7th June - Eagle Heights

NRC are bound for Kent to visit the team at Eagle Heights on Sunday 7th June. Those who are travelling on the mini-bus need to be at Wooton Pavilion for an 8 o'clock departure. We estimate the drive to be around 2 hours, so bring a drink if you feel you might need one!

Those of you travelling by car also need to meet at Wooton Hall Pavilion as we will be entering Eagle Heights en bloc in order to obtain the discount on offer.

There will be a guided tour for the club once we arrive.

5th July - Castle Ashby Country Fair

NRC have established themselves as regulars at this local event, attending the last three Castle Ashby fairs. As always, volunteers are needed to help man our stalls, so please, names to Dave Whittaker if you are available to help.

 11th & 12th July - Festival of Falconry

This is the second international Festival of Falconry. As in 2007 it is created by falconers, for falconers and is about falconry. Everyone is invited, regardless of nation, creed, gender, club, commercial status or anything else. If you are a falconer, the Festival is for YOU.

And if you are not a falconer then still visit. Falconry is ancient, diverse and entertaining. Its history goes back to early man; falconers have a passion that crosses nations. Join us for a fun, educational, entertaining day out. Share a weekend with people from all over the world; enjoy their culture and lifestyle without needing a passport or an airfare.

The Festival is hosted in the United Kingdom by the Hawk Board the umbrella body for UK falconers. And it is strongly supported by the Emirates Falconry Club which is kindly sponsoring attendance by many nations. NRC will be attending with some 25 members camping out over several days.

July in the UK is high summer. Breeding is finished and the young hawks are starting to fly. Schools are closing for holidays. The old hawks are finishing their moult. Falconers all over the Northern Hemisphere are getting ready for the hawking season. Hawks are being taken on hand for training. Hopes are high for the new season. Take a weekend out to spend time making new friends from all over the world. Who knows where it may lead you?

The Festival of Falconry will not be a ‘stand and stare’ event. There is a lot to do, plenty to enjoy, to learn, to try out and moreover to celebrate. Come and support your country or club, and tell us about it. Tell us about your history and how you do things in your country. Bring your hawk if you can (There are rules about this). Bring your family and friends. And a big smile!
