STOP PRESS: CHECK LATE BREAKING NEWS!

Welcome to the website of the New Albion Windfarm Action Group for Rushton and Pipewell.

Infinergy plc are to apply for planning consent to construct a wind turbine farm between the heritage villages of Rushton and Pipewell in Northamptonshire,  to be named "New Albion Windfarm".

The plans are for seven giant industrial turbines, each to be 100m high, stretching roughly a half mile from both Rushton and Pipewell.

These turbines will dominate the skylines of both Rushton and Pipewell and will be clearly visible from parts of Corby, Desborough, Kettering and Rothwell.

If these plans are approved by Kettering Borough Council, then New Albion Windfarm and the exisiting Burton Wold windfarm will both be clearly visible from many locations in the area. "How big are they?" you may ask - see the diagram below:

The New Albion Windfarm Action Group are not against renewable energy, nor are we against windfarms, but we do strongly feel that they should not be placed in such close proximity to populated areas nor on an historic landscape where they will be clearly visible from listed buildings such as Rushton Hall, the Traingular Lodge in Rushton, Rockingham Castle and the site of Pipewell Abbey and church.

It is our general feeling that these turbines will be no more than a financial gain to be shared by the land owners and the developers, Infinergy plc.

Many of us have been, or are still in business, and we understand profit. However, we feel that such a construction will damage these historic landscapes, not to mention the quality of life in both parishes, and it will have an adverse effect on property value in these villages.

To summarise, they will damage our local communities whilst, in our opinion, make no effective contribution toward our country's energy requirements.

Consider the following:

Who can you trust? Those who profit financially from wind turbines at your expense? Or your neighbours who are simply suggesting you examine the evidence for yourself?

Start asking some hard questions about the impact of wind turbines on your family, your health and your community.

  • Will you be the one who says I wish I had known how big they are?.

  • I didn't realise how close they would be.

  • Will they really squeeze a few more in?

  • I didn't think you would see them from my house.

  • Are they really there for 25 years?

  • Will they really devalue my house?

  • I didn't realize they would be so noisy

  • There not as pretty as I thought.

  • They are a lot closer than I thought they would be.

  • Did they really choose this site because they thought we would be a pushover?

  • Do the developers really call us NGA's-naive,gullible and apathetic?

Wind farms are a wonderful source of renewable energy -

SINCE WHEN?

In the words of Sir Martin Holdgate ex chairman of the renewable energy advisory board and former government scientific advisor,

THEY HAVE A HUGE SPACIAL FOOTPRINT FOR A PIDDLING BIT OF ELECTRICITY.
