It was a bright and breezy morning in Brafield, Northampton - the site of the 2010 Northampton Show, as NRC members arrived with birds to attend this event again.

The marquee was to be tested to the limit, with 40mph gusts expected throughout the day. The birds seemed oblivious as they were all perched inside the marquee, sheltered from the worst of the wind. All the baths were put in place, just in case any birds were either thirsty or felt like a splash..

Before long the marquee was buzzing with visitors, all with questions to ask, and cameras clicking away.

The birds took it all in their stride, feathers not completely unruffled by the wind on the day! Present were Kate, Joe and Glynne Malkin, with owls Eddie and Ferbie, an African Spotted Eagle Owl and a White Faced Scops Owl respectively, as well as their new addition tiercel Peregrine. John Tyas and Maralyn Marlow, with Poppy, female Harris and Ki'che, male Saker..Martyn Holland and Kev brought along a couple of immature Lanner Falcons, while Mick Smith had another African Spotted Eagle Owl in tow.

Our Irish friend Tony brought along his heavily moulting female Harris, while Paul Dickie brought his male Harris.

Julian, Karen and Nathan Watson brought along their male European Eagle Owl and a female Harris.

Roland Richardson and Dennis Allison were also on hand to lend assistance wherever and chat to several people throughout the day.

Last but by no means least was John Elliott, with his Owl display section, a popular part of the NRC event set up. Young and old alike enjoyed dissecting the owl pellets and discovering what owls had been eating..as well as learning about the owls in their own countryside!

Many visitors attended the set up and chatted with several NRC members, and the weather, despite the wind, made this a very pleasurable outing for the club. Next up, The Blakesley Show!
