6th June 2010
A
rainy morning in early June
saw NRC club members gathering at Castle Ashby church fete along with
several birds. Although the weather started out cloudy, it was pleasantly
warm, and just after 12 noon, people started to gather to watch the
afternoon's entertainment and enjoy tea, sandwiches and cakes that were on
sale in the Orangery, which was filled with the sweet aroma of a huge orange
blossom.
Several ladies were on hand to man the stall, and there were cakes and
sandwiches of all varieties.
As the day progressed,
several interested visitors came to chat, and as usual, the kids all loved
to go and chat to "Uncle" Dennis Allison, who sat with Ferbie, a white faced
scops owl , who is always a favourite with adults and children alike, his
bright orange eyes always capturing the attention of admiring viewers.
Most
have never been as close as they were to Ferbie, and were captivated by this
dapper little chap! He did his bit by holding down the leaflets when the
wind blew, the most important job of the day without doubt!
The weather decided it had
held out long enough, starting off with a light shower, then deciding to let
the heavens open in a huge downpour!!
There was a scramble for the
gazebo, by both NRC members and visitors!
We all managed to squeeze
under, some of us with birds, which was a rare treat for some visitors to be
in a gazebo so close to the birds...a kind of bonus for them, they snapped
away with their cameras!
Some were unlucky enough to
not make it into the gazebo , and so improvisation was the order of the
day..

The things you do for
love!...
Enjoy the rest of the pics!
