NRC Christmas Party

And so another year has come and gone, and NRC heads into it's fourth year in existence.

Things got underway with several requests being made of the DJ. The conversation flowed as people were catching up since last month, moreso as the season is relatively young and several members now have fit hawks for the field.

The music continued until time to open the buffet, a terrific spread, including salmon, turkey, ham & beef, as well as Waldorf salad, potato salad, pasta salad and french bread.

Plates were filled and cleared with everyone tucking in nicely.

More music followed after the buffet, and the dance floor began to see a little action...

It was soon time to draw the raffle, the tickets had been selling well all evening courtesy of Joe Malkin. Prizes included several items from the butcher, as usual, and some terrific prints kindly donated by Steve Magennis, our club photographer.

There were several bottles of beer and wine, and also a Barn Owl print kindly donated by Dave Whittaker.

The club also received two Raptor First Aid Kits kindly donated by Neil Forbes at Great Western Referrals.

All prizes were claimed, the committee winning most of them ( though I hasten to add that several times the prizes were given back to re-draw! ).

The evening carried on with several requests being played and several people strutting their funky stuff on the dance floor, not least of whom was Jim Harrower...enticing several ladies onto the floor!

He finally met his match when Debs (Martyn Holland's better half) started by taking his jacket off while they danced, then moved onto his shirt...but when she got to his belt buckle, big Jim bottled it and ran back to his seat, collecting his shirt on the way!!

The night was well underway, everybody in high spirits, the dance floor being well visited, even by our chairman Glynne Malkin and committee member John Elliott!

A really good time was had by all, no club business on this occasion, strictly just having a good time!

Good food, good company and a great disco, it was a great way to round of the year.

A huge vote of thanks goes to Kerry, the manageress of the pavillion, not only for a great job on the night, but for every club meeting. She always makes us feel welcome and makes sure we stay well watered! Not that difficult!! Thanks Kerry!

On that note, the committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the members for their continued support throughout 2008, and we look forward to seeing you all at the AGM in January, when our guest speaker will be Hawkboard member and Hoodmaker Steve Halsall.

And so all that's left is to  wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2009.

Enjoy the rest of the pics!
