This late October morning brought uncharacteristically mild weather for the time of year, though there were clouds and a stiff breeze to remind us just what time of year it was.

The group met for breakfast at Glynne and Kate's , and a good old full english teed everybody up for the day to come.

As this meet was Goshawks only, we got the birds ready to go, established who had first slip , and away we went.

Before too long, after walking up a field, quarry was flushed and Roland Richardson's bird, Azure, a young female, gave great chase before being beaten by stock fencing. Once she was gathered up, the group progressed through a small spinney before walking an adjacent field up to the next wood.

The group had little success in the next wood, until walking it to it's end, where several quarry were flushed together, and the bird on slip was spoilt for choice...but in the end was unsuccessful.

Many hedgerows and fields, and some additional woods were walked, producing several slips, but on the day, the bag remained empty.

Despite that, a good day's hawking was had by all, and all birds had several slips.

It's early days, and today all the birds gave us signs of things to come as we head in to the new season.
